Anger – can you channel and control it productively?

Anyone can become angry – that is easy.

But to be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose, and in the right way – this is not easy.

Aristotle

This thought made me stop and think. A whole new direction to look at anger from.

We are continuously told that anger is bad. Uncontrolled anger lashing out irresponsibly at all those around us is bad.

I know I face this challenge with my children. From the opposite direction. I can be far too accepting, understanding and ‘apologetic’ towards them when they are naughty. This does them no good for later life.

Maybe I should be looking positively channel the frustration and anger when they do something I do not agree with. Jordan Peterson talks about something similar when he says we should ‘not allow our children to do things that make us dislike them’.

What do you think? Have you got any tips on anger and how to channel it?
